A receipt is the customer-facing document for a successful payment. This page covers the receipt actions available in the Merchant Portal. Merchant-name and logo rules on the receipt are described in the Checkout Page Lifecycle & Receipt FAQ.

Where do I find the receipt for a transaction?

Open the transaction in Transactions → Payment Orders and look for the Receipt block on the detail page. View Receipt opens the receipt page in a new tab, where the receipt can be switched between languages and downloaded. If you prefer to handle this from your own system, the order inquiry response returns userReceiptUrl for orders that support a receipt; see the Developer FAQ for how long a receipt stays valid.

Why do some transactions have no Receipt block at all?

The Receipt block appears only when a receipt can actually be produced for that transaction. All of the following must be true:
  • the payment reached a successful state,
  • the payment went through a Waffo checkout session, and
  • receipts are enabled for your contract type.
When any of these is not met, the whole block — including View Receipt — is hidden, and a send request for that order is rejected because receipts are not enabled for it. There is no way to produce a receipt for such a transaction from the Portal.

How do I email a receipt to a customer?

Use Send Receipt on the transaction detail page and enter the recipient address. It does not have to be the address the customer used at checkout, so you can also send a copy to yourself or to your finance mailbox. The email is sent from Waffo’s official sending address, is titled Your Receipt from {your merchant display name}, and contains a link to the receipt page rather than an attachment.

I clicked Send twice. Will the customer get two emails?

No. Repeated submissions for the same order + same recipient + same Portal operator within a short window are de-duplicated: the Portal reports success, but only one email goes out. Outside that window — or with a different recipient — the send is treated as a new request and creates a new send record. You can re-send as often as you need.

What do the receipt-email statuses mean?

The detail page always shows the most recent send record for the order. Treat SENT as “handed off”, not “received”. If a customer says the receipt never arrived while the record still shows SENT, wait for the record to move to DELIVERED or FAILED before re-sending.

Can I see who sent it and where it went?

Yes. Each send record carries the delivery status, the actual recipient address, how it was triggered, the Portal operator’s email, the send timestamp, and the failure reason when it failed. This is the record to quote when a customer disputes whether a receipt was ever issued. Automatic retries are performed by the mail service and only update the status of the existing record — they never create a new one. A new record appears only when you click Send Receipt again.

Does Waffo email the receipt automatically after a payment succeeds?

No. Sending a receipt email is a manual action in the Portal today. Also not available: batch download of receipts, several recipients in a single send, scheduled sending, and customer-initiated re-sending from the receipt page. If your customers expect a receipt email on every successful payment, send it from your own system using userReceiptUrl from the order inquiry response.

What controls the content shown on the receipt?

Receipt content is driven by a receipt configuration held for your account, not by fields passed per order. Order and subscription payment information report which configuration was applied as receiptTemplateId. You manage that configuration yourself at Settings → Receipt Configuration: document title, merchant display name and logo, the “From” entity block, the footer and support copy, and whether the customer’s name and email are shown. Amount, fee and subscription rows are filled by Waffo from the transaction itself and cannot be edited. Changes take effect on save, with no approval step, and apply to past as well as future transactions — see Receipt Configuration & Download.
